Layers & Lipstick Linkup – Poofy Ponytails & Hats

October 25, 2016

Hey loves, hope you’re having a fabulous week. I’ve been so quiet on the blog. But I’m back with an exciting Layers and Lipstick Linkup that I’m co-hosting with the J Petite and Pucker Up Style. And the topic for this Layers & Lipstick Linkup: Poofy Ponytails & Hats. If you’d like to join our linkup and share your own look, scroll down below for instructions. I’d love to see you rock a cute poofy ponytail or a hat.

linkup-image layersandlipsticklinkuphats-8 layersandlipsticklinkuphats-3 layersandlipsticklinkuphats-6 layersandlipsticklinkuphats-1 layersandlipsticklinkuphats-7 layersandlipsticklinkuphats-4 layersandlipsticklinkuphats-2 layersandlipsticklinkuphats-5

Suede floppy hat is such a great accessory for any fall outfit. Especially this red wine color goes well with the other fall neutrals like brown, dark denim and even pink pastel. Every single piece in my outfit today has a fall element in it: burgundy floppy hat, bell sleeve top with ruffle details, bell bottom jeans and brown booties. How do YOU rock a hat this fall? Join the fun and show me how you style a hat on Instagram using the hashtag #layersandlipstick and our favorite look will be featured on one of our accounts. If you have a blog, you can join the linkup below as well.

Life update (if you’re curious): I know some of you are wondering what the heck is going with me, why I’ve been only active on Instagram and not on the blog. Thanks so much for thinking of me, I have the sweetest friends and followers. We are now in the process of packing up everything to prepare for the move. I don’t want to jinx anything and say we have a house, because we are still waiting for the title company and the bank to close on it. We did pass the inspection and an appraisal was also done. I’d say we’re 80% there, just a tad longer. Our lease with the current apartment ends early November but we are scheduled to close on the house mid November. That means we will most likely be storing all of our furniture at a storage unit and staying at a motel for 2 weeks or so. I’m crossing my fingers and toes our bank can close on our house sooner than that, so we don’t have to be at a motel for that long, mostly because we have 2 dogs with us. I know, seriously! I can’t wait for us to be all moved in. Then I can sit down and write you a 5 page blog post about our house buying adventures. Jk, maybe not, it’s not that interesting.

✨ Wood signs for my little Prince baby shower ✨:

- I ordered custom adhesive vinyl decals to be printed for large dimensions (around 3-5 ft tall).
- Cut the shapes out, and trace the shapes on wood boards (I used 1/4” thick plywood).
- I put painter tape around the traced line to reduce wood chipping when cutting with a saw later.
- Cut the shapes on the wood boards with a jig saw.
- Brad nail leftover woods on the back to make a stand for the signs (some small pieces of 2x4 worked well).
- Apply the adhesive back of the art decals onto the wood signs.
- Enjoy! 🩵✨🎠

☺️ What I’d do different if I do this again:
1. The horse and carriage are ok, but I’d loved the castle to be taller.
2. Use foam boards instead of wood for lighter weight. Wood would be great if these signs will be outside where it might be windy, but for indoors event, I would do foam.

My birth story 🤰🏻:
I went to bed at 39w3d with contractions 10 minutes apart, but had thought they were faux labor contractions (because I had Braxton Hicks and prodromal contractions most of pregnancy) so I didn’t think much of it. I woke up at 2am and called my doctor at 4am since contractions were 7 min apart (still thinking they were not real 😂). Good thing she told me to come in. I debated if I should put makeup on and decided to not - wise decision! During the car ride, 7 min apart became 5 min apart. When we arrived at hospital, I was 6cm dilated. I asked for epidural and by the time I got one, I was 8cm dilated. I started pushing shortly after, and baby came after 20 minutes of pushing.
