How to wear a Matching Set (without looking like you’re in your PJs)

When I saw this polka dot print top and the matching pants at Foxcroft, I couldn’t help but wanting to wear them together. The print is just so cute, and the lightweight fabric is perfect for upcoming spring and summer. However, sometimes wearing a matching set like this could make you look like a little kid (because it’s too cute) or you could look like you’re wearing a set of PJs. So here are my 3 tips to NOT look like you just rolled out of bed on Christmas morning:

1. Accessorize! Accessorize! Accessorize!

To avoid looking like you’re about to go to bed (or just woke up in the morning), wear your jewelries: earrings, bracelets, watch, necklace, you name it. You can even go for bold statement pieces. Because let’s be honest, you don’t accessorize when you go to bed, only to go out.Wear a vibrant handbag. A pop of color will be sure to “wake up” the outfit!

2. Avoid long sleeve tops

You can wear long sleeves only if the bottom piece is shorter. If you’re already wearing long pants, and you’re also wearing long sleeve top, that outfit is called a set of pajamas don’t you think? Go for sleeveless top and long pants, OR shorts and long sleeve top. Or better yet, sleeveless/short sleeve top and shorts!

3. Wear your heels.

Another tip to avoid looking like you’re ready for bed is to not look too comfy! Wear heels (sure, wedges are okay), make it look “uncomfortable”. You’re here because the world is the runway and you’re going to rock it, you’re not here to tuck yourself into bed!

    I LOVE this blog post!!! It’s awesome how you provided tips on how to look like you didn’t roll out of bed – I definitely needed to read those tips HAHA. I never wear matching sets for the same pajamas reason, but now I kind of want to try a set and apply the tips you mentioned! 🙂
