What to wear with chambray?

How do you wear your chambray?

I have been in that position before where I see a cute chambray piece, and wonder how the heck do I style that. If you ask yourself the same question, you’ve come to the right place! I’m sharing with you a couple things you can pair it with to make your chambray stand out:

  1. Red color (or any bright color)
One of the most popular pairings I found from my research is chambray skirt with a red top, or chambray top with a red skirt. I’ve also seen chambray outfit paired with a red handbag or red shoes. I love how the red really adds that pop of color to the outfit.
Chambray also does a good job of toning down your bright colors a little bit, if you’re wearing a really big piece of bright color. Have you tried a red maxi dress with a chambray/denim jacket?
  2. Camel/Tan, White or any other neutral color
I think this is a really good pairing of tan color into chambray. Since tan is a toned down version of yellow-orange, which is a complimentary to blue. And also tan is a neutral color, so it should go with pretty much anything right?
Another great pairing is chambray with white, or with black.
  3. Other chambray/denim
You can pair chambray on denim and chambray on chambray but be careful when you do this. Monochrome look could be a difficult look to get right, unless you are absolutely sure of what you’re doing.
Add a few pieces of neutral to harmonize the look. Example: denim jeans, white tee with chambray jacket, and a tan hand bag and brown belt. (This sounds like a fun idea, maybe I’ll do this for my next post!)
  4. Prints/Patterns
Since chambray blue is such a nice, soft blue color, I consider it’s almost a neutral color to me. It doesn’t grab too much attention, so to elevate your outfit, you can pair it with some fun prints and patterns. I’ve seen leopard print done well. I’ve seen a chambray top and floral skirt. Even some stripes or plaid would go well with chambray.

So after my study, I put a few things together, and came up with this outfit. I went for white and purple. I thought purple would go nicely with blue, even though I haven’t seen a lot of purple paired with chambray. But like red, it adds a little pop of color, but not too contrast in this case. And a statement necklace, to turn up the outfit a notch!

Pro-tip: If you’re busy and you don’t wanna think too much about what to wear with your chambray dress, throw on a kick-ass red lipstick, and you’re good to go! There’s nothing a red lipstick won’t fix 😉

Hope you find these tips useful. What do you like to wear your chambray with?

With love,

-Lily Rose

✨ Wood signs for my little Prince baby shower ✨:

- I ordered custom adhesive vinyl decals to be printed for large dimensions (around 3-5 ft tall).
- Cut the shapes out, and trace the shapes on wood boards (I used 1/4” thick plywood).
- I put painter tape around the traced line to reduce wood chipping when cutting with a saw later.
- Cut the shapes on the wood boards with a jig saw.
- Brad nail leftover woods on the back to make a stand for the signs (some small pieces of 2x4 worked well).
- Apply the adhesive back of the art decals onto the wood signs.
- Enjoy! 🩵✨🎠

☺️ What I’d do different if I do this again:
1. The horse and carriage are ok, but I’d loved the castle to be taller.
2. Use foam boards instead of wood for lighter weight. Wood would be great if these signs will be outside where it might be windy, but for indoors event, I would do foam.

My birth story 🤰🏻:
I went to bed at 39w3d with contractions 10 minutes apart, but had thought they were faux labor contractions (because I had Braxton Hicks and prodromal contractions most of pregnancy) so I didn’t think much of it. I woke up at 2am and called my doctor at 4am since contractions were 7 min apart (still thinking they were not real 😂). Good thing she told me to come in. I debated if I should put makeup on and decided to not - wise decision! During the car ride, 7 min apart became 5 min apart. When we arrived at hospital, I was 6cm dilated. I asked for epidural and by the time I got one, I was 8cm dilated. I started pushing shortly after, and baby came after 20 minutes of pushing.

It has been the best experience with recovery and breastfeeding I’ve had between the 2 children. And we can’t get enough of Mr. Colt’s smiles and snuggles 🧸.
