A new take on the popular Off the Shoulder Top

This off the shoulder top (with knotted sleeves) has been popping up every where. The very first time I saw it was on the beautiful Arielle from Something Navy last summer. She wore it in the minty baby blue color and of course as gorgeous as she is, the top was styled so effortlessly chic. Gosh I wish I was fabulous like her!

After that, I’ve seen other colors of this top everywhere in the fashion blogging world, and you might have seen it before as well: in baby blue color, denim color, dark denim color, grey, white. But mostly, the top is worn in a similar way how she wore it: with leggings, or skinny jeans. And I won’t lie, I did try to wear the same top but in dark denim with skinny white jeans, trying to re-create Arielle’s look, but I did not pull off that look well and I will tell you why.

If you’re a regular reader of With Love Lily Rose, you’d know I’ve said this about 178 times that I’m such a petite that any tunic top, including this one will never look good on me, worn in a traditional way. Tunic length tops make me look short, and I feel like my whole body is just lost under there especially when it’s loose fitting as well. And so, I had to come up with some way to wear this gorgeous off the shoulder, I mean I love the sleeve details! I think it’s such a fun piece to wear, maybe I could even wear it as a dress, no kidding lol.

So my take on styling this one is to tuck it in a high waisted skirt. I think it helps a lot making me not look so little. Let me know what you think of this look and my take on styling this top a little different on how you’ve seen it styled before. If you’ve worn this top as well differently than Arielle or me, please do share, I’d love to know other creative ways I could style this fun top!

    Lily, I love the way you’ve styled your top in a way that works for you and your frame!     This style top is definitely harder to pull off on a petite frame. Pairing it with a close fitting high waisted skirt is a genius idea. You’re totally just as fabulous as Arielle!

    This is such a great idea, Lily! If I am going to find my perfect off-the-shoulder top this summer, I will definitely tuck it in a skirt or jeans.
