Use the denim from your closet

Most of us already have a pair of blue jeans in our closet. So let’s pull out that blue shade for this simple outfit. And what’s more American than a pair of blue jeans? Pick your favorite pair of denim shorts or jeans, and if you also have a simple white tee, that’s a classic 4th of July look.

Add some patriotic accessories like a stars and stripes scarf or some red jewelry to complete the look.

Cute patriotic sundress or romper for a summer BBQ

This is probably one of the most comfortable 4th of July outfit ideas. And my favorite! A sundress is always a good idea in my book. This cute ruffle trim minidress (under $120) comes in both a solid white or a solid red, so take your pick. This white romper (around $50) is so breezy and cute, perfect for a summer day BBQ or picnic, and it’s also available in a soft blue.

Just add some simple accessories like a straw hat, some fun earrings and sandals or wedges and you’re good to go!

Various shades of blue

I had to look this up, but the exact shade of blue on the American flag is a RGB #002868, a dark cyan-blue, I would say it’s a navy color. But we have also seen the red, white and blue theme celebrated with other various shades of blue. So of course, wearing this shade of navy is welcome, but don’t feel like you have to wear the exact shade of blue to be on theme.

Play with cobalt blue for a very bright blue look. Or go even lighter with a pastel blue and let your white and red shine
