How to wear color of the year

February 16, 2017

When I learned that the Pantone color of the year 2017 is going to be green, I choked. The green that you wear on St. Patty’s Day? But no, I can’t! I don’t look good in green, and I don’t like how I look in green. But let’s face it, it’s color of the YEAR. So it will hang around for some time. I might as well find one way or another to wear it right? So here is how to wear the color of the year.

Let me tell you the trick. The exact color of the year is Greenery, but don’t wear that if you’re not into it. Instead, pick a different shade of green, something more flattering. Like this dress, it is no where near Greenery pantone color. Besides the muted green tone is such a great transitional color for this season. Pair this shade of green with other earthy tones, like mustard yellow, dark red, burnt orange, brown, etc. And of course any neutrals, black and white would go great. I picked this dress also because it’s a shift dress, easy to style for most body shapes.

I’d like to also show you these jewelry pieces I’m wearing here. The new line just launched called Sugarfix and is now available at Target. It’s a collaboration between Target and Bauble Bar, but at such an amazing price point. No piece is more than $30. Doesn’t that just make trips to Target 100 times better, not that Target wasn’t amazing before?

Dress: ASOS || Coat: Guess (35% off) || Shoes: old (similar – on sale) || Earrings (c/o): Sugarfix at Target || Necklace (c/o): Sugarfix at Target || Handbag: Rebecca Minkoff (similar on sale)

I must say I’m not at all sad for this being the color of the year as I love it! I think I could pull it off just as gracefully as you did with this beautiful floral dress (and that coat is just wonderful too!). A huge fan of the new trend already!

I actually never wear anything that says trendy. I know, that look great in red and continuelsy wear red or blue. Green hue can be stylish as well, depends what kind of hue do you pick or what type of fabric you pick. Green is actually can look luxurious, bold and elegant. This dress looks amazing on you, I am pretty sure if you would wear pastel green or khaki, it would look great on you!

This shade of green (do you call that olive green?) is so classy on you Lily! i’ve bought a couple of skirts in the exact same shade too & can’t wait to take outfit shots in them when I’m free. And I think your statement necklace and coat add a glam touch to the outfit too 🙂

Aww, girl, this colour suits you perfectly. I love this dusty green, it’s way more wearable than the Paddy’s green. I don’t like the green and green-like colours either, but as you said, we have to deal with it for quite a while, so let’s do it on style. I’d probably go for dark bottle green, this is the only one I could manage easily.

I had no idea that’s the color of the year but it looks amazing! This floral dress is so adorable and I love how you styled it!

While I don’t have that many green pieces in my wardrobe I do need to give this Panthone shade a try. Mostly because my eyes are green and I feel that they look even greener when I’m wearing green!

In other words thank you for the color inspo! I’ll definitely give this shade a try!

I like your dress darling and how you say it, greenery but not entirely, because it has a colorful floral patterns, so stands out a bit of color.
Honestly even I put this color, I prefer to wear when it is summer and already got a bit of color.

✨ Wood signs for my little Prince baby shower ✨:

- I ordered custom adhesive vinyl decals to be printed for large dimensions (around 3-5 ft tall).
- Cut the shapes out, and trace the shapes on wood boards (I used 1/4” thick plywood).
- I put painter tape around the traced line to reduce wood chipping when cutting with a saw later.
- Cut the shapes on the wood boards with a jig saw.
- Brad nail leftover woods on the back to make a stand for the signs (some small pieces of 2x4 worked well).
- Apply the adhesive back of the art decals onto the wood signs.
- Enjoy! 🩵✨🎠

☺️ What I’d do different if I do this again:
1. The horse and carriage are ok, but I’d loved the castle to be taller.
2. Use foam boards instead of wood for lighter weight. Wood would be great if these signs will be outside where it might be windy, but for indoors event, I would do foam.

My birth story 🤰🏻:
I went to bed at 39w3d with contractions 10 minutes apart, but had thought they were faux labor contractions (because I had Braxton Hicks and prodromal contractions most of pregnancy) so I didn’t think much of it. I woke up at 2am and called my doctor at 4am since contractions were 7 min apart (still thinking they were not real 😂). Good thing she told me to come in. I debated if I should put makeup on and decided to not - wise decision! During the car ride, 7 min apart became 5 min apart. When we arrived at hospital, I was 6cm dilated. I asked for epidural and by the time I got one, I was 8cm dilated. I started pushing shortly after, and baby came after 20 minutes of pushing.
