Petite girl’s guide to wearing a floral tunic ft. Pink Blush

March 3, 2016

Spring is coming, a flowy floral tunic is a must have in every girl’s wardrobe. But reality hits hard, you’re only 5ft3, ‘flowy’ also means ‘baggy’, and ‘tunic’ also means your legs are basically cut short in halves. While this may look amazing on a 5ft9 model, the look just won’t work for you.

So here are a few things you CAN do if you’re a petite girl who loves her flowy floral tunic this coming season:

  1. Add a belt: define where your torso ends and where your legs start by wearing a belt on your smaller waist. This helps make you appear a little taller and not make your legs disappear behind that half shirt half dress.

2. Avoid calf length boots: Yea I know yours are really cute, and yea, you need to wear them before it gets too hot in the summer. But please, don’t! Not with this tunic dress. You’d draw attention to your calves and make the illusion that your legs are cut short. Wear your high heels, your flats, anything lower than ankle, OR anything knee length and above. These Over-The-Knee boots surely don’t disappoint.

3. Smaller accessories: Small cross body bag is better than a big tote. Save your handy LV Neverfull for another day, opt in for a smaller handbag. Small earrings are better than long drop statement earrings.

Sometimes you maybe able to wear big statement accessories, but only if the print on your tunic isn’t so busy and bold, like if your tunic is a solid white color for instance. But the title of this post is “guide to wearing a floral tunic”, so I’m going to assume you’re wearing a busy colorful floral print. General rule of thumb, the bolder and busier your print is, the smaller and less accessories you need.

I hope these are helpful to you! Thank you so much Pink Blush for sending me this dress. Please take a look at the Pink Blush collection, and Pink Blush Maternity collection. They have such cute items for very affordable prices!

I love everything about this post lol. First off, #hairgoals. Secondly, I love the dress, especially the top where it buttons together near your neck. And obviously, the print is gorgeous. Thirdly, these tips will definitely be put to use. I actually have something in my closet right now that is super cute but makes me look really short and stumpy so this came at a great time!

Thank you for the tips! Being 4’11 myself, I tend to stay away from pieces like this because I know I would end up looking like the dress “swallowed” me up. Haha. I love the bold colors on your dress. And your hair is gorgeous btw 🙂

Great tips! I’m frequently belting dresses as I’m short too, it’s a nice way to add some shape to an outfit that is more baggy than flowy!

That is such a pretty printed dress too.

✨ Wood signs for my little Prince baby shower ✨:

- I ordered custom adhesive vinyl decals to be printed for large dimensions (around 3-5 ft tall).
- Cut the shapes out, and trace the shapes on wood boards (I used 1/4” thick plywood).
- I put painter tape around the traced line to reduce wood chipping when cutting with a saw later.
- Cut the shapes on the wood boards with a jig saw.
- Brad nail leftover woods on the back to make a stand for the signs (some small pieces of 2x4 worked well).
- Apply the adhesive back of the art decals onto the wood signs.
- Enjoy! 🩵✨🎠

☺️ What I’d do different if I do this again:
1. The horse and carriage are ok, but I’d loved the castle to be taller.
2. Use foam boards instead of wood for lighter weight. Wood would be great if these signs will be outside where it might be windy, but for indoors event, I would do foam.

My birth story 🤰🏻:
I went to bed at 39w3d with contractions 10 minutes apart, but had thought they were faux labor contractions (because I had Braxton Hicks and prodromal contractions most of pregnancy) so I didn’t think much of it. I woke up at 2am and called my doctor at 4am since contractions were 7 min apart (still thinking they were not real 😂). Good thing she told me to come in. I debated if I should put makeup on and decided to not - wise decision! During the car ride, 7 min apart became 5 min apart. When we arrived at hospital, I was 6cm dilated. I asked for epidural and by the time I got one, I was 8cm dilated. I started pushing shortly after, and baby came after 20 minutes of pushing.

It has been the best experience with recovery and breastfeeding I’ve had between the 2 children. And we can’t get enough of Mr. Colt’s smiles and snuggles 🧸.
