Olive is the new Black

March 14, 2016

We all love a classic black and white combination, but there’s this one underestimated neutral that you need in your closet – olive. This yellow-ish green color is making a big statement, and so easy to pair! Personally, I think pairing it with other neutrals is the fool proof way to go, so white and beige it is! But olive will play nice with other neutrals as well: black, brown, blue denim, etc.

Love olive/khaki, you’ve aced it with the neutrals here. I’m from Melbourne, so would have to go with black 😉 That necklace is divine, really dresses up the outfit perfectly!

I am with you on olive green, actually just discovered it late last year and I can’t believe how lovely the colour is against my skin tone! You look so lovely, never thought of pairing olive green and white together but they look really good on you!

I love the way you’ve taken the more chic and feminine approach with olive, Lily, and you look amazing, but I like to wear my olives bold and brazen. Androgynous and masculine, even, with olive button downs or olive coats. There’s just something about the colour that is delicately strong, if that makes sense, haha.

The Olive color is such a huge trend in 2016 and I love it because it can literally go with so many colors, the fact that it is a neutral that oozes pizzazz makes it a win in the fashion Industry.

Love love love the neutrals going one Lily! Olive is one colour I stray away from due to my undertones. Not sure why but finding one that makes me look ‘decent’ ain’t easy 🙂

✨ Wood signs for my little Prince baby shower ✨:

- I ordered custom adhesive vinyl decals to be printed for large dimensions (around 3-5 ft tall).
- Cut the shapes out, and trace the shapes on wood boards (I used 1/4” thick plywood).
- I put painter tape around the traced line to reduce wood chipping when cutting with a saw later.
- Cut the shapes on the wood boards with a jig saw.
- Brad nail leftover woods on the back to make a stand for the signs (some small pieces of 2x4 worked well).
- Apply the adhesive back of the art decals onto the wood signs.
- Enjoy! 🩵✨🎠

☺️ What I’d do different if I do this again:
1. The horse and carriage are ok, but I’d loved the castle to be taller.
2. Use foam boards instead of wood for lighter weight. Wood would be great if these signs will be outside where it might be windy, but for indoors event, I would do foam.

My birth story 🤰🏻:
I went to bed at 39w3d with contractions 10 minutes apart, but had thought they were faux labor contractions (because I had Braxton Hicks and prodromal contractions most of pregnancy) so I didn’t think much of it. I woke up at 2am and called my doctor at 4am since contractions were 7 min apart (still thinking they were not real 😂). Good thing she told me to come in. I debated if I should put makeup on and decided to not - wise decision! During the car ride, 7 min apart became 5 min apart. When we arrived at hospital, I was 6cm dilated. I asked for epidural and by the time I got one, I was 8cm dilated. I started pushing shortly after, and baby came after 20 minutes of pushing.

It has been the best experience with recovery and breastfeeding I’ve had between the 2 children. And we can’t get enough of Mr. Colt’s smiles and snuggles 🧸.
